CARDSTOCK TERMS OF SERVICE Last updated: 30 August 2026 1. About these Terms These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of cardstock.se and the Cardstock study service (the "Service"). The Service is provided by William Stämdal, a private individual based in Sweden, using the contact details below ("Cardstock", "we", "us" or "our"). Email: support@cardstock.se By creating an account or purchasing a subscription, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data. Mandatory consumer rights under applicable law always apply and are not limited by these Terms. 2. Eligibility You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use Cardstock. This age restriction reflects, among other things, the current provider terms governing the Gemini API used by Cardstock. You may not use the Service if doing so would violate applicable law or if we have previously suspended you for serious or repeated violations. 3. The Service Cardstock lets users submit notes, text, images, PDFs, YouTube links or transcripts and uses artificial intelligence to create study materials such as summaries, explanations, flashcards, quizzes and study recommendations. Depending on the available plan and feature configuration, Cardstock may also provide manual and typed-answer flashcards, reverse cards, fill-in-the-blank cards, image occlusion, spaced-repetition scheduling, courses or folders, mastery and streak dashboards, exam plans, mistake-focused practice, study-kit sharing, flashcard editing or transformation, and the Ask Cardstock AI tutor. Features, limits and availability may differ by plan. Some features may be experimental, unavailable temporarily, or changed as the Service develops. We may perform maintenance, fix security issues, update models, change reasonable technical limits or modify features. We will provide notice where a material change is required by law or materially reduces an ongoing paid service. 4. AI output and Ask Cardstock AI output may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, misleading or unsuitable. Web-grounded output and linked sources may also be wrong, incomplete or inappropriate. You are responsible for checking important information against reliable sources. Ask Cardstock starts from the generated study-kit context and may, when Google Search grounding is enabled, search for current or outside information. It does not have access to an original upload after a temporary upload has been deleted, and it must not be treated as proof that a statement appears on a particular page of your source material. Tutor conversations may be stored with the study kit as described in the Privacy Policy. Cardstock is a study aid, not a school, teacher, examination authority or provider of medical, legal, financial or other professional advice. Do not use it for clinical practice, diagnosis, treatment, emergency decisions or another high-risk purpose. We do not guarantee grades, learning outcomes, factual correctness, uninterrupted availability or that generated content will meet a particular curriculum. 5. Learning schedules and estimates Spaced-repetition due dates, mastery percentages, readiness indicators, streaks, weak-area suggestions and exam plans are automated learning estimates based on available activity. They can be incomplete or misleading if activity is missing, content is inaccurate, or a shared account or device is used. They are organisational aids only and are not formal grades, academic records or professional assessments. 6. Accounts and security You must provide accurate account information, keep your login credentials confidential and promptly notify us if you suspect unauthorised use. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless the activity results from circumstances for which you are not responsible under applicable law. Accounts are personal and may not be sold, transferred or shared in a way that defeats plan limits, tutor limits or access controls. We may require email verification and take reasonable steps to prevent fraud, abuse or automated account creation. 7. Your content You retain ownership of material you submit and content you create, to the extent such rights exist under applicable law. You grant Cardstock a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, transmit, process, display and transform your material only as necessary to provide, secure and support the Service. This includes sending necessary material and context to providers such as Google Gemini as described in the Privacy Policy. You confirm that you have the necessary rights and permissions to submit the material. Do not upload material that unlawfully infringes copyright, privacy, confidentiality or other rights. Do not submit highly sensitive personal data, confidential examination material, trade secrets, medical records or information you are not authorised to disclose. Files uploaded only to generate a kit are intended to be temporary. However, an image deliberately used for an image-occlusion flashcard remains stored so that the card can function, until the card, kit or account is deleted, subject to backups and legal retention requirements. We do not claim ownership of your original material. AI-generated content may resemble content generated for others and may not qualify for intellectual-property protection. 8. Private-link sharing You can choose to create a private link to a generated study kit. Anyone who obtains that link can view the content exposed on the shared page without signing in. A private link is not the same as encryption or access limited to a named recipient. You are responsible for deciding whether the generated content is appropriate to share and for sending the link only to intended recipients. Do not share content that contains personal, confidential, copyrighted or restricted information unless you have authority to do so. You can disable an existing link or delete the kit. Cardstock may disable a shared link where reasonably necessary to address abuse, infringement, security or legal requirements. 9. Acceptable use You must not: - use Cardstock for unlawful, fraudulent, harmful or abusive activity; - upload malware or attempt to exploit, scan, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the Service; - evade rate limits, plan limits, tutor limits, access controls or payment requirements; - use automated scraping or high-volume requests without written permission; - impersonate another person or provide misleading account or payment information; - submit or share content that you have no right to use or disclose; - use a private share link to distribute illegal, infringing, confidential or harmful material; - use the Service to harass, threaten, exploit or harm another person; - reverse engineer the Service except where applicable law expressly permits it; - attempt to bypass AI safety systems or obtain secrets, hidden prompts, API keys, server information or another user's data; or - present AI-generated answers, mastery estimates or source links as verified facts where doing so could cause harm. We may remove content, revoke a share link, restrict generation, suspend an account or terminate access where reasonably necessary to protect users, Cardstock or third parties, investigate suspected misuse, comply with law or enforce these Terms. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to respond. 10. Free plans, paid plans and usage limits Current plan prices, included features, study-kit allowances, tutor-message allowances and other important limitations are shown on the pricing, account or checkout pages. Free allowances may be limited to a lifetime, daily or promotional quantity. Paid allowances reset on the cycle described for the plan and normally do not carry forward unless the checkout page expressly says otherwise. A study-kit generation is normally counted after successful AI processing. Tutor messages do not consume the study-kit generation allowance, but separate daily tutor limits may apply by plan. Technical, safety, concurrency, fair-use and rate limits may also apply to protect reliability, prevent abuse and control unexpected provider costs. 11. Subscriptions and payment Where paid plans are enabled, they are recurring subscriptions processed by Stripe. The price, currency, billing interval, applicable taxes and total due are shown before you confirm payment. Cardstock does not store your complete card number. Unless otherwise stated at checkout, monthly subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period using the payment method held by Stripe until cancelled. You authorise Stripe to collect each recurring amount on our behalf. If payment fails, access to paid features may be restricted while payment remains outstanding. You can manage or cancel your subscription from the Plan and Billing section of your Cardstock account through the Stripe customer portal. Unless the portal or mandatory law states otherwise, cancellation stops future renewals and paid access continues until the end of the already-paid billing period. Deleting an account may cancel an active subscription immediately and permanently remove access, so cancel through the billing portal first if you only wish to stop renewal. We may change prices for future billing periods. We will give advance notice where required, and a new price will not apply retroactively. You may cancel before the new price takes effect. 12. Statutory right of withdrawal and refunds If you are a consumer in Sweden, the EEA or another jurisdiction with a statutory withdrawal right, you may have the right to withdraw from an online subscription within 14 days without giving a reason. The exact rules and exceptions depend on applicable law, the nature of the digital service or content, when performance begins and what you expressly requested or acknowledged at checkout. To exercise a statutory right of withdrawal, use https://cardstock.se/withdrawal while the withdrawal period is active, or send a clear message to support@cardstock.se containing your name, account email and the subscription you wish to withdraw from. Where legally required, we will promptly provide a durable electronic acknowledgement of receipt. If you expressly request immediate access during the withdrawal period and later exercise a valid withdrawal right, we may be entitled to charge a proportionate amount for service already supplied, but only where permitted by law and where the required pre-contract information and request were obtained. Nothing in these Terms removes rights that cannot lawfully be waived. Refunds required by consumer law will be made using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed. Outside statutory rights, discretionary refund requests may be sent to support@cardstock.se and will be considered based on the circumstances. Cancelling a subscription for future periods does not by itself reverse a charge for a period already supplied. 13. Faults and support If a paid Service is not supplied as agreed, contact support@cardstock.se with enough information for us to investigate. Consumers retain mandatory rights concerning defective digital services. Depending on applicable law and the circumstances, available remedies may include correction, restoration of access, a proportionate price reduction or termination and refund. 14. Third-party services Cardstock relies on third-party services including Google Gemini and Google Search grounding, Stripe, Simply.com, Google Fonts, jsDelivr/MathJax and YouTube-related transcript functionality. Their services may be governed by separate terms and privacy notices. We remain responsible for our own obligations under applicable law, but cannot guarantee that every third-party system, search result, source link or externally delivered resource will always be available or correct. 15. Cardstock intellectual property The Cardstock name, branding, website design, software and original service content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms give you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the Service in accordance with your plan and these Terms. They do not transfer ownership of Cardstock software or branding. 16. Suspension and termination You may stop using the free Service or delete your account at any time. Paid subscriptions should be cancelled as described above. We may suspend or terminate access for serious or repeated breaches, fraud, security threats, non-payment, legal requirements or conduct that materially harms the Service or others. Where reasonable and lawful, we will notify you and allow an opportunity to correct the issue. Termination does not affect rights or obligations that arose before termination. Deleting a kit or account is intended to delete the associated active-service records described in the Privacy Policy. Information may remain temporarily in protected backups or be retained where required for billing, legal obligations, security or legal claims. 17. Availability and liability We use reasonable care in providing Cardstock but cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses caused by reliance on unchecked AI output or automated learning estimates, disclosure through a private link you enabled, unauthorised content you submit, or events outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so is prohibited by law, including applicable liability for intent or gross negligence, personal injury, fraud, or mandatory consumer remedies. For business users only, and to the extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising from the paid Service is limited to the amount paid by that business user to Cardstock during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. 18. Changes to these Terms We may update these Terms for legal, security, technical or service-related reasons. We will publish the new version and effective date. If a change materially affects an ongoing paid subscription, we will provide reasonable advance notice where required. You may cancel before a material change takes effect. Changes do not reduce rights already accrued under mandatory law. 19. Governing law and disputes These Terms are governed by Swedish law, without depriving consumers resident elsewhere of mandatory protections available under the law of their country of residence. Please contact support@cardstock.se first so we can try to resolve a dispute. A Swedish consumer may also contact Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN) at https://www.arn.se where its requirements are met, or another competent consumer-dispute body.
